READING:  We will continue our unit of study about friends.  We will be learning what it takes to make a new friend and how to get along with our friends. We are continuing to learn and practice our social skills.  We will be learning about Dr. Seuss next week.

HOMEWORK:  LETTER OF THE WEEK: “Ww” will be the letter of the week starting on Monday, February 28.  Please sit down with your child and discuss what sound this letter makes.  Have your child cut out one small picture from a magazine or newspaper that begins with the letter “W” and bring it to school.

MATH:  We are learning about subtraction.  We are learning how to take a large group and break it up into smaller groups.  We are also reviewing the math terms “Fewer than”  and “More than”.  We will be learning about the ‘-‘ sign and the ‘=’ sign.

HANDWRITING:  We need to keep practicing the lower case letters.  We know how to make the letters: c, o, a, s, d, g, v, w, u, t, i, l, k.   All of these letters start on the top line.  The letter t is the only letter so far that starts above the top.  It is made with a big line going down.

SCIENCE:  We are discussing what it means to be healthy. We are learning how to take care of your teeth and different ways to be healthy.

Kinderblog update: The blog has been updated with the 25 Kindergarten words and the kindergarten word families we will be working on. http://fisher-kindergarten.blogspot.com/ Come check us out.

Parent Visitors: to ensure a minimum disruption to learning please our visitor rules:
1. Always check in at the office and get a visitors badge.
2. If it is the end of the day please wait for your child at the appropriate outside exits.
3. Visitors should wait by the office and your child will be brought down to you.

Dr. Seuss Reading Day:
We are celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 3rd by joining many other schools in “Reading Across America”. Our plan is to have community helpers, school administrators, and parents make this a “Read-to-Kids day” that they won’t forget.  Don’t forget to send back the slip to let us know when you can read to us!

Things to work on with your child:
*The different sounds the letters make in words.
*Ways to make a new friend.
*Different words which can be made with the “at” and “an” family.
*Have your child help make out the grocery list and let them write down the items.
*Tying shoes.
*Recognizing the numbers from 1-20.
*Keep working on recognizing the 25 Kindergarten words.
