Turkey Dressing

Dear families,
We would like you to do the following fun activity with your child. Please return your creative turkey back to school as soon as you can.

Activity: The title of the activity is “Turkey Dressing.”  Use the attached turkey and “dress” the turkey in a disguise to save it from being eaten on Thanksgiving Day. Some examples might be:  Hawaiian Clothes, A lamb using cotton balls, Draw/paint clothes on the turkey, etc.  Some examples from last year are below.
We hope this will be a fun activity for both of you to expand your creativity!  Have Fun!

Spelling City

Spelling City

We are working on reading our 25 kindergarten words! We found a fun way to learn and remember the words at home!!! Go to http://www.spellingcity.com/ceggers/ . Click on the button that says “Find A List.” In the middle of the computer screen, type in the name Cynthia Eggers to search for a list by a teacher’s name. Click on a list you would like your child to work on. The games are so much fun! One game some of the children really like is called Hang Mouse! Have fun learning at home with your child!!

READING: Our color unit has been so much fun! It has been exciting watching everyone dress up in the color of the day! We made rainbows and made a book about our favorite color. We have also been working on reading the kindergarten words. We should know: I, a, go, to, me, in, red, see, we, my. For fun at home, go to www.spellingcity.com . Click on the button that says “Find A List.” In the middle of the computer screen, type in the name Cynthia Eggers to search for a list by a teacher’s name. Have fun playing the games! We also added another color! It will be gray day on Monday, October 24th. Thank you!

LETTER OF THE WEEK: “Hh” will be the letter of the week starting on Monday, October 24. Please sit down with your child and discuss what sound this letter makes. Have your child cut out one small picture from a magazine or newspaper that begins with the letter “H.”

MATH: We are exploring the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. We learned that we need to start at the top to make these numbers, just like letters! These numbers are corner starting letters.J We are also preparing to take an assessment which reviews topics 1-4. We will practice sorting, making patterns, and reviewing positional words (inside, outside, over, under, on, left, right, top, middle, bottom).

HANDWRITING: We are still practicing making frog jump letters and corner starting letters using chalkboards, magna doodles, and mats. Remember: all letters start at the top! Keep working on F, E, D, P, B, R, N, and M. We are getting better at making L, K, H, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z which are corner starting letters.

SCIENCE: We are continuing to look at the four seasons of the year! The colors of the leaves are beautiful!

SOCIAL STUDIES: Our citizenship unit has been a great review over manners. We have been comparing good manners and bad manners at school and at home. We love role playing good manners! It was fun acting out being a mom or a dad. We know that when mom or dad tell us to do something, we should look at them and say “OK!” We hope that all kindergarteners are using their good manners at home like we are trying to do at school, too!
